As for Derek Mountfield, I think it was more than just his knees, I think Kendall wanted someone who was more commanding and better defensively. And, to be fair, our goals against plummeted in 86/87 and 87/88 (though the attack fell off a cliff after Kendall left).

I remember him scoring loads of goals for us, but also picking up injuries a lot.
As a kid it always seemed harsh how he was effectively binned off for Dave Watson.
Watson did boss obviously, but was Mountfield binned mostly due to injury record?
