Given his contract being in the last year rather than just pay the price for Branthwaite. They wanted to make a point and they did, just the point they made wasn’t ’new ruthless Man United’ as they thought, more stupid Man United buying average players for inflated prices. Branthwaite would have gone last summer had they met the valuation. I don’t think he will go there now. My big fear is the lovables will aim for him to replace Van Dijk. I hope we resist that at all costs.
