The rapid short arses used to play alongside a centre forward.
Also got a lot more teams with 6ft wingers (N'diaye, Lindstrom McNeil are all 6ft), rather than the jinky Jimmy Johnstones and Pat Nevin types.
I don't think in the modern game there is a place for short players, unless they are brilliant technically, and even then only in a side that plays tiki-taka style. Everything else is shifting towards having massive lads with lots of stamina and strength. A Doucoure would always get the nod over an Adrian Heath these days. Previous Message

but when I played, there was ALWAYS a small guy upfront who was fast as fuck. Like every school, sunday league team etc had one. Do they not exist anymore
do the rapid short arses just get binned off ?
