funny you should bring him up right now. When he was elected Iran had taken a bunch of Americans hostage. Jimmy Carter, bless his heart, was hopeless getting them released. Hemadesome kind of weak agreement with Iran. Reagan announced that if the hostages weren't released before he became president then any agreement was off. I think 1 minute before he was sworn in Iran released the hostages. He restored a lot of pride in Americans after the Jimmy Carter years. Jimmy was a nice guy, good peanut farmer, terrible president. He was a wonderful person, RIP Jimmy.

I've been blocking this out since I found his Presidency all-consuming last time, and I'm determined not to let that happen this time for the sake of my sanity.

However, I just feel the need to say that I simply cannot believe that America voted him back in again. How f'ing stupid are these people?

I partly blame the Dems for not realising that a compliant media would emphasise Biden's failing cognisance whilst ignoring Trumps and accepting that a change was needed at a much earlier stage to allow consideration of more candidates. Maybe Harris still might have come through, but I somehow doubt it. They need to spend a period of analysis to determine their best and most electable candidate for 2028 and work to establish them in the public conscience.

I'm convinced the MAGA idiots are about to enter a period of FAFO, but it's little consolation.
