Look at the current league table.
The Premier League’s money advantage over most of Europe means that midtable clubs are attractive destinations. If you have recruitment and tactics aligned and adapting to the changes in how the game is played then you can pick up players within a budget.
The key is to not make the big mistake and not to pay a salary that could mean you are stuck with someone for their whole contract. The Davy Klaassen/Per Kroldrup deals are not ideal but okay as they were moved on quickly. Deals like Theo Walcott and Cenk Tosun were killers and tbh, they looked bad at the time. Previous Message
It’s arguably the equivalent of the Cup Winners’ Cup (if CL = European Cup / Europa League = UEFA Cup). I’d argue that counts well enough as having ‘won something.’
Would like to read that bio, one day, should it ever be published.

... wrote/was writing an official biography of Moyes. He would visit David and Pamela's place to interview him and Moyes attended his wedding. The connection went back to PNE days. I read the Everton chapters. Nothing particularly new, from memory.
Moyes wouldn't allow the bio to be published until he had "won something". I guess it never will be now.
I don't think Moyes believes he was "successful" in outright terms. Achieving what he did with the resources at his disposal is another matter.

But he was successful at Everton Football Club.
I know its all about opinions, but anyone who thinks he should have done better last time...is just wrong.

saying “It’s great to be back! I enjoyed 11 wonderful and successful years at Everton and didn’t hesitate when I was offered the opportunity to rejoin this great club."
How do you define successful ? for me, its winning trophies and Everton won a trophy every decade (WW2 excluded) until Moyes arrived. I know its not his fault as the owners had no money.... but no way can he say his tenure was successful without a trophy. Its like Bill saying 'you had good times' ffs.
He's the right man to deal with our current mess, but I hope our new owners don't share his view of success.
