Forever one striker away from greatness. But as we all know top class strikers are born costing £100 million aren’t they

Look at the net spend, he worked fucking miracles, to say he should have done more is entitled nonsense. Previous Message
… he never could quite take that last step and compete with the big boys, which was very frustrating. B Previous Message
…..and once the feelings of ‘he’s elevated us and given us our club back’ feelings started to subside, despite great achievements in consistently challenging top 7, there was always an underlying frustration and with it pressure to take the next step and challenge top 4 which as we know at the time as very established. The topic often dominated discussions and debates on here as we all knew we were in the best shape for a long time and dreamed of what achieving Champions League football (the actual league not a qualifier) may lead to. The fact we managed to achieve it in 2005 only whetted the appetite even more.
Although the bars low at the moment, if we see progress over the next 12/18 months, wherever it takes us, we will naturally want more. Hopefully we now have the right owners and board in place to support achieving those targets. Previous Message
If we was to be a consistent top half team, we'd always be looking at how close to Europe we are etc....
For me, when Moyes lifted that Europa Conference cup or whatever its called, I honestly felt so happy for him. Now he's back, I'd love it if he was the person to win what may be for some younger supporters the first trophy they've ever seen us win Previous Message
...to have a season or two of "nothing"?
No PSR issues.
No points deductions.
No manager soundbites.
No manager/DoF squabbles.
No threats of relegation.
No Europe with a paper-thin squad.
No drainage problems at new stadiums.
No Ancelotti.
No Benitez.
No Allardyce.
Can we just go with "consistency" for a little while, stay of the front and back pages, and quietly put some quality process and people in place?
They've done studies, you know. 60% of the time, it works every time.
