seemed we were spending the whole close season chasing Broja with Brereton-Diaz as a possible back-up and we end up with Maupay and try to use him as a like-for-like DCL replacement. It was beyond obvious that it wasn't going to work.
Surely a panic buy - left it so late that it was either him or nothing.
Is signing Maupay as a back up for Calvert-Lewin. We haven't played 2 up front for years so I genuinely don't understand the thinking behind bringing him in.
I honestly can't say if he has done a good job or not. I do lean towards yes because of the very hard situation he has been in.
My main gripe is perhaps that he hasn't really managed to find that much value in players. Other clubs manage to occasionally sign players costing sub-10 million who turn into decent or even better players. This hasn't really happened.
He has been very good juggling with loans and his signings have been mostly decent but most of the income club has made has been from players he did not sign.
So I wouldn't be too bothered if he is changed but also not if he is kept.
losing just a little more faith every day, and credibility too apparently
