People seem to think that another manager will do better with the players we have available. I really don’t think so.
I liked the way Tim played at the start. He looks to get forward as soon as he can but he did leave gaps behind.
Him and Garner might be our best midfield options but both are injured.
We need a winger with pace on the right side. We tried for Minteh and Philogene but were priced out of any deal. Lindstrom is not the answer. Like the look of the West Brom winger Tom Fellows who we are linked with.
every single forward or attacking midfield player we currently have who is fit, played yesterday
There was no one else - no other options at all
Our striking options were a half arsed DCL and a striker who doesn't look up to it
Ndiaye was quite clearly playing on one leg from the 5th minute yet the only option off the bench was Harrison who although looked lively when he came on has stunk out he gaff this season
…..I'm watching the game with the feeling that there are no clear and obvious game and strategy changing options on the bench.
To switch system or tactic. His answer, when he does react, is a like for like substitution.
....was to let them try to play out, and then win the ball off them in the attacking third. Remember Arteta ditched Ramsdale because he didn't think he could do this. They looked shaky, and it was an obvious tactic to use.
Obviously that results in a lot of passes for them in their own half, but on a fair few occasions our hunting in packs did create turnovers, which obviously we wasted.
But the idea that it was a negative approach is something I fundamentally disagree with.
Sadly I think any attempt to look at the situation with nuance is just shouted down right now.
So he's toast sooner or later. Barring an unexpected transfer window we'll be back here in a few months having the same debates, if he is replaced soon. Moyes or anyone else will set these players up in largely the same way.
