And even if you did (I say you, but you know what I mean) each player can be rated differently depending on position played, team strategy, players around them and on and on. It's a very subjective thing - many teams have played seemingly amazingly better under different managers or systems and many individuals play better when a spawny decision is made around partnerships or roles.
So without a real objective analysis (which I'm not sure is possible considering what "could" be, which we can't analyse) all we are left with is opinion. Mine is that Dyche will keep us up so that is fine with me. But I do think we could play better football and still stay up. I don't see why we need to play quite such long ball tactics, but I do agree that overall it may well produce the same results.
But not very rational, people seem to accept us have shit players, most accept Fulham are a better side, but then they don't accept us being out performed by that better team.
There are only three sides that I see as being worse than us, maybe two or three more a similar level, that means most games will be a struggle and would be for any manager. As to whether he would play differently with better players? Fuck knows, none of us do, although Burnley fans seem to think he did when they were in the championship.
at present ndiaye is our *only* player with flair. Branthwaite will be back in soon, too. then what? who else should he be playing?
the reason we're playing the way we are is due to the squad. that will take years to fix, imo, and changing a manager isn't going to change what the squad is capable of.
the last time we had a team competing for Europe with any regularity was under Moyes - and that was built on the back of 1-0, hard fought games where we usually defended for our lives. it was only in the last few seasons of his tenure that we started playing with any level of style and even then it was built on top of solid, hard working defending.
personally, I hope we stick with Dyche and give thelwell time to develop the squad.
that said, I think we'll see him gone under new management as a statement of their intent. but if it doesn't come with new players to match, it'll be pointless.
