Well although we live about a mile from the beach just south of Clearwater we are actually on a road which is 60' above sea level so no fear about flooding which is the main danger with a hurricane.
Helene was catastrophic for anyone living close to the beach or water (intracoastal waterway). The roads down there are full of people's belongings, furniture, clothes bits of houses. They are trying desperately to clear this before Milton arrives but it is an impossible task. This storm is going to have an even bigger surge, it will be catastrophic. Last time a storm like this hit Tampa Bay was 1921, really small population back then.
