I guess it is all about perspective and you make a valid point re context. Context of time and place is a robust social science position. My stance is influenced/prejudiced/skewed on the lived past. And probably the non expectant future (in my lifetime anyway), that gulf is a lifetime for some sadly.
and punched well above our weight.
Just think about those players - Cahill, Arteta, pienaar, Baines - these were players that today would play for top clubs, they were really very good players and we had some very good sides.
There does seem to be revisionism on both sides - yeah, we had shit times under Moyes but we also had some really good sides and finished, when money is taken into context. And it must be.
Erm...nope, re-read. My post was one of acceptance. We are totally crap, we have been mostly since 85 and we probably will be beyond our lifetimes.Im not whinging at all, I accepted it during Mike Walker era...I remember a night with Becky T, Ian Mac and Mr P in a pub after a game and we all agreed, we will always be crap - we need to accept it.
Just accept we are crap, we mostly will always be crap (certainly in most of our lifetimes if you are born). Or is this is how it should always be - a forum of bloody constant self entitled whingers?
