I guess it is all about perspective and you make a valid point re context. Context of time and place is a robust social science position. My stance is influenced/prejudiced/skewed on the lived past. Just think about those players - Cahill, Arteta, pienaar, Baines - these were players that today would play for top clubs, they were really very good players and we had some very good sides.

Erm...nope, re-read. My post was one of acceptance.
