However, I suppose another way of looking at it is he could have said that originally and taken the focus off Young - a focus which he himself admitted was probably incorrect - without having to have been prompted.
The BBC report rightly points out that Dyche was booed for bringing Young on to replace Beto. But Dyche’s quotes in the online piece basically says the fans booed Young and that Young is tough enough to cope with it.

but, I do actually feel a bit sorry for him. He doesnt hide (we've had plenty who have) he's just a bit too old for this level.

And dont give me that bollocks about not wanting to peak early, and its a long season, we are yards off other teams in the league. And I'm not talking about distance run, or sprint speed, but general sharpness and alertness.
