The constant turning backwards is a sure sign that the instructions they are getting are cautious to say the least. This is down to Dyche and his coaches, tonight was and ideal night to just go for it and attack in numbers.... but not a chance.
I accept confidence is low, but the hoof ball tactics are shameful for a club with our tradition. Its a simple game, you put you players in the right places and use the space to the maximum. For examle, EVERY corner our set up was the same as we overloaded the back post with no one attacking the front post. This gives the opposition an advantage as they only have to defend the back post and it also means that any corner under hit is grabbed by the goalie or cleared easily by a defender.
Add to that our constant failure to have a player on the D allows the opposition to either have a free shot or break away depending on whether we are attacking or defending. We set up so narrow that a cross field ball takes out our defence....its school boy stuff. We took Beto off and continued to hit crosses because there was no other option as most of the team were behind the ball.
I have no doubt Dyche will stay on, but its just impossible to get any enthusiasm watching us at the moment. I feel sorry for all those who traveled miles at huge expense to witness that failure.... as others have said, the joy is gone these days.
