After 281 votes were cast, Sean Dyche has scored a satisfaction rating of 7.48, a notable increase of 1.76 from the last poll.
Surprisingly (to me anyway) this is not Dyche's highest score, with v2.0 back in March of last year posting a score of 7.53 after his initial run of 11 points from 24 gave us renewed hope for the run in. The similarity of these scores could also represent a popularity ceiling of sorts, with many feeling he's what we need right now but arguably wouldn't be their choice as the man to take us forward if we had the resources available. I had expected around 7.7/7.9 after safety and a Derby win, so maybe a score around 7.5 is as high as he can get with the fanbase for the foreseeable future?
That said, the increase of 1.76 poll to poll is the second highest jump in popularity since we started polling. Marco Silva had a massive 3.05 jump from v5.0 to v6.0 in May 2019 (but wouldn't see out the year) with Dyche himself (v1.0 to v2.0) rounding out the top three with 1.72 14 months ago. This shows early signs of a mental toughness and durability that many of his peers have lacked in the EFC hotseat in recent years.
So Dyche is doing the best he can but unfortunately there is little sign of improvement off the field so his job may even be tougher next season. For now, he deserves his opportunity to bask in his very solid fanbase support and recharge before he has to do it all again. I'll do my best to pop up just before the first game of the season and see if the mood has changed any, but for now have a good summer!
One last final personal comment, if I may. I'd like to thank my elderly mother for travelling around to find 24 different devices in different locations yesterday just to support me in the other poll yesterday. A very touching gesture, mum!
