It turns out that a holiday camp up the road asked around the locals if they could put up any of their seasonal staff fora few quid, so we had a cook and his wife living there for a while (until their drunken arguing and fighting got too much and my dad had to kick them out! )
Due to Billy living with us after his divorce. He'd often talk about the 'Booker Avenue Home for Waifs & Strays', documenting him & my Dad's single life.
Wally and his wife Val were absolutely wonderful people. Not sure about his leather kecks though!
Billy & Wally were the absolute soundtrack to several generations of scouse lives. It's pitiful how Radio Merseyside treated them in later years.
