I've just read Michael Magee's book, Close to Home, and loved it.
If you like short stories, Kevin Barry's collections are all brilliant. He has a dark sense of humour like Roddy Doyle, maybe a bit darker
actually... His novel about John Lennon buying the island of the west coast of Ireland is good too, Beatlebone.
I've just bought a copy of Gary Imlach's non-fiction book My Father And Other Working Class Football Heroes, which is supposed to be good.
He's the guy from Channel 4s Tour de France highlights, his dad played for Forest.
