But no matter what his ceiling for improvement may be and how much of a star he may be in three or four years, the actual brutal reality of his time at Everton is that he's been largely average with occasional moments of quality.
That's what my eyes have told me, at least.
All of this 'we're lucky to have him' stuff points at his potential more than anything tangible that he's accomplished on the pitch for us.
