Expectation was 6 points. Will be really interesting to see if Forest appeal. If not, that suggests that the panel were lenient. Possibly because the PL want to avoid all the furore and the prospect of the relegation being decided after the final game.
Hopefully, that implies that the same thing will happen to us
It also implies that the panel were more receptive towards Forest's mitigation, which should help us.
Reading the tea leaves, this looks like we might get a 2 point deduction.
But many of us thought that would be appropriate on the assumption Forest had 6 points. So part of me thinks that ANY further points deductions we should kick and scream, drag out the process, and expose the PL for being incompetent.
Personally, I'd take an additional 2 point deduction right now, on the assumption that forest don't appeal, meaning we all know where we stand and can carry on. This season is probably the best to receive a deduction, and the uncertainty has been a big source of our issues.
That said, I sincerely hope we can make the case that:
- We've already been punished for 2/3 of the period
- The Forest case implies a lower scale
- Common sense needs to help ensure this doesn't drag on
So here's my view:
6 points + would be unfathomable. We should just refuse to play games
4 points we should appeal
2 points I'm genuinely torn
0 points has become more likely than this time yesterday, so that's some good news
