We TRIED to be compliant by selling Richarlison earlier. Result = six point deduction (and possibly sold a player for less than true market value).
Forest (rightly imo) put their own profitability ahead of the rules by selling Johnson later. Result = four point deduction and more money received.
Obviously there’s more to each case than that, but the lack of any framework setting out how teams will be penalised for breaches is incredible and should be unworkable until something has been published. Not only are they making it up as they go along but the impact is that teams are playing for draws when they should up be playing for wins / playing for wins when they only need to play for draws.
Regardless of whether we stay up or go down, there’s no sporting integrity in this process, its an absolute farce.
