Story and acting were OK, thought the depiction of religious zealotry in particular was spot on.
Couldn't get past the dependance on swords and daggers though .. I know the book explained it with the force field thing but couldn't see how it applied in the big set piece battles.
I feel a bit churlish saying it, kind of like the arl fella behind you in GP slagging off Pickford for a poor kick out after he's made a wonder save....
Firstly, I’ll admit I’ve read the book and seen earlier versions of the series
Dune 1 (2021) was excellent IMHO. Not overly relying on massive special effects and set the scene for Dune2. Great casting, superb cinematography and soundtrack.
Dune 2. Wow. At the end of the film the cinema was eerily quiet and it was difficult to take in how others saw the film. However within seconds you knew it had gone down really well. Quite bizarrely I actually felt it was as much like a religious experience (honestly) than a film.
I struggle to think of any film like it for depth of story.
If you are even slightly tempted then you will not be disappointed. If you don’t like this type of story, or suffer from numb bum then give it a swerve. Either way, it simply won’t work on a TV screen.
