Harrison gave us width but with support wasn’t able to do much as Godfrey was stood 20 yards behind him. Godfrey is not a natural full back, has little pace and can’t cross. His selection was baffling and completely unbalanced the team.
In the last 15 minutes, keen observers will have noticed he wasn’t being given the ball at all due to his unwillingness to go forward. Even our own players could clearly see the problem.
Coleman, Patterson or even date I say Young would have seen an immediate improvement.
He is being made to look a lot worse than he is because he is completely isolated most times when he receives the ball.
Yesterday he had two men marking him regularly with no support from Godfrey.
He needs someone making runs outside him to take one of the markers away from him. Coleman and Patterson can do this. Godfrey freezes when he passes the halfway line.
Ayling supported Harrison in attack at Leeds and he looked a far better player than he does for us.
