We at the very back of the stand and he is screaming advice at Dyche every two minutes. As if he would hear.
There was a short spell of brighter play after the substitutions and he just shouted “why the f*cking ell didn’t you play like that before”, there was literally no pleasing him.
McNeil made an awful pass and I exasperatedly shouted “oh come ON!!”
A guy behind me seemed to take exception and loudly praised McNeil the next time he controlled a simple pass.
Then, about ten minutes later the same guy was screaming obscenities at McNeil for a bad cross.
The problem with the man in the crowd is that they think they are the only one who sees/knows what’s happening, and are intolerant of any other views.
The worst for me are the “oh here we go again” after 3 minutes of play..
Over from the Netherlands and went with my sister and brother in law. Got some tickets near their seats and some folks swapped to let us sit down next to them. A couple of guys in the stand were constantly shouting at the pitch. Every move ended up with them swearing at the player or Dyche.
It wasn’t that they were wrong, the play was mostly abysmal, but it’s aggressive and it’s not even witty. Everyone is watching the same match, we don’t need their commentary. One of the crowd did tell one of these stadium pundits to shut up thankfully, but they are so wound up and aggressive it’s not easy to do.
Despite the atmosphere and poor game I thought Branthwaite was great, tidy, reliable play through the whole match. Hope he stays a few more seasons.
