SA place kicking was dreadful. If it was mediocre they draw. A good kicking game and they win.

The Springbok selection was sub-optimal and the 7/1 bench saw them getting sucked in to trying to out macho Ireland which was not smart. Ireland similarly were not as sharp as they would want to be, particularly in the line out and early phase carries which too often were isolated and went backwards.

If they meet again in the final Ireland will need to find a way to turn the Bok blitz defence more often and clean up their line outs. To get that far the Boks will need to play a far smarter and more efficient game against probable QF opponents France, who I would expect will be similarly unimpressed if SA simply try to out-muscle them.
