When I was an auditor, we used to ask for this guarantee from owners who had loaned their company money all the time. To say a company is a going concern it needs to be able to survive the next 12 months, so a statement to say you will not attempt to seek repayment of the loans is normal.

Essentially, it’s just the auditors covering their arses.
