About £2 a glass. Meals for 2 c£40. Not too bad but friends who came a few years back were talking £20 max for meal and drinks which we’ve been nowhere near.
Good point about crossing the roads. It is actually terrifying in places as they seem to aim at you, ignore red lights and crossings and are often driving on the wrong side of the road. Previous Message
Remember spending a night watching Everton v West Brom (2-0 I think) and the bill for 3 with food and a lot of drink was less than £50. The same night in Hong Kong or Singapore would have been triple at least.
About this time 10 years ago I went to Siem Reap in a group of 13 and we simply couldn’t believe the prices. One bar had a sign ‘Beer 50 cents - Happy Hour 35 cents’. Needless to say it was Happy Hour the whole time we were there.
You’re right about HCMC though - really not much to see as a tourist and crossing some of those roads - wow! Previous Message
Stopped initially at Bangkok. Been there many times. Love it.
First time in Saigon / Ho Chi Minh. Not a lot to do or see here. Wouldn’t come back. People very nice, like Thailand but just so much busier than Bangkok. Neither particularly cheap even though we thought Saigon would be. Previous Message
I’ve fancied there for years, never got round to it yet Previous Message
I’ve never been so hot. 38 degrees, no breeze. Busiest city I’ve ever been in. Previous Message
