We knew Richie was our talisman but more than that, a mentality monster, a proven striker in the Prem for multiple seasons, Brazil's resident #9, Olympic Gold medallist, Copa America Winner... Yeah he was worth more like a 100M to us.
I know that Gabriel Jesus and Sterling were around 45M, but Sterling only had one year left. Barça paid 60M for Raphinha which to me says Richie should have been minimum 80M or more...
But we had to sell by a deadline (end of June to balance the books allegedly) and there was only one buyer so we more or less had to take what they were willing to give us.
Would anyone here have bet against Richie to play a blinder at the World Cup? No of course not, we all knew he'd bring it.
Watch Levy turn around a sell Richie to Real for 100M+ double quick now.
It's the chronic mis-management of the club that forced us to sell our most important player at a clearance price - and not suitably replace him.
Kenwright is at the heart of all this - he's not saving us, he's slowly killing us, managing us in to oblivion - while he's around, I have little hope for our prospects to improve in any kind of significant way.

Not an expert on the finances, but didn't we need to balance the books etc? Previous Message
