Mykolenko (who I'm really not sure about, maybe why we bought RV) and NP as the wide midfielders.
IGG and Onana as the solidity and a yet to be determined front three as the threat.
Thinking McNeil might play right side of that 3.
Thereís just no place for wingers in that system. 5-2-3 is just a disaster unless youíve two absolute world beaters in midfield.
Iím hoping, if we get Gana, we go 3-5-2. That should make us a lot more solid and playing two proper strikers up front together is something Iíve wanted to see for ages.
But it begs the question, why did we sign McNeil? Itís nice to have options and to be flexible. But how much game time is he likely to get in a 3-5-2?
And hopefully going 3 in the middle will see a return to form for Doucoure. But a midfield of Gana, Onana and Iwobi is certainly promising. Whether there enough craft and goals there, is another matter. Which is why I think it would be a shame to let Dele go now, just when we might move to a system that would actually suit him.
....and im not totally against either or both going...But if they do, we need at least one name with a bit more going for them than the ones currently linked....
Gray, Townsend, Mcneil, Maupay/Adams, I'm not saying any of them are shit, but you aren't excited about watching any of them are you.
A good price and maybe we should sell Gordon, it's a risk as to whether he adds end product, but he is exciting. Ali might never turn it round, but you know he has the potential to be exciting. Without those two, what's a boring squad.
