That was my first thought too, they are paying a high price for potential
he could go on to be a top player but he's definitely not there yet. Likely to see his playing time severely limited there, though if he backs himself to break through then fair play.
I don't want him to leave but it's understandable to accept an offer of the size being bandied about. Absolutely imperative that he's replaced with quality if so, the likes of Che Adams are OK as squad fillers/options from the bench but no more.
... starting position at Chelsea. I guess they see some potential, or they need squad fodder for the League/FA Cup.
It is moot right now as there is no bid
However, IF Chelsea do bid they have set their market with £55m rising to £62m for a LB with fewer PL appearances than Gordon and a bid over £60m for a CB so the current voting consensus at £50m simply does not reflect that IMO.
