Re: True but we donít need a 20 goal man
I hear what you say, and we do indeed need another body as a focal point, but entrusting this new striker to allow other attackers to score (as opposed to getting 20 goals himself) is a risky game. Who are the other players that are going be netting? Gordon? Very hit and miss with his end product. McNeil? Heís not exactly got a track record of being prolific. Gray? Hot and cold at best. Townsend? Will grab a few. Dele? Massive gamble relying upon him.
No, we need any new striker to be a goal machine AND facilitator.
Itís a big ask.
Although itíd be nice. We just need a body that puts himself about and allows our other forwards to come into the game. A Marcus Bent type really. Itíd help our midfield too as it would give them a rest when the ball goes up the field.
You look at the set up and you can see how we want to play
Ö.but buying strikers is a huge minefield and there are more expensive flops than success stories.
We are playing with fire.
Clearly doesn't work with that front three. Two games and not a goal or an assist between them.
Persisting with them today was a waste of time.
We should've gone 3-5-2 and used what we have. This is what I would hope for next week:
Rondon up front with Dele off him and roaming about.
Middle three: Onana, Iwobi a bit further forward and Davies
Wing backs: Myko and Patterson
Back three: Tark, Coady and Holgate.
I'm frustrated that we're throwing games this early in the season because we're not ready and have not finished our recruitment. DCL's been crocked for ten days and we have one goal in two games... Paging Farhad... Paging Farhad...
