His deal is done – he ain't coming back…
Whether we should have let him go on loan is another matter. I'm based in Scotland and I watched him a fair bit last year. He has undoubtedly improved his ability to lead a line, and has goals in him, but is not regular PL level yet. The injury to DCL has put the wisdom of that moving doubt as Simms would have been a decent alternative off the bench. However, we would have always needed another striker at a higher level than he is currently.
He’ll probably match this guys 17 from last year at Sunderland. Why go out and spend on a older fella, when we don’t have any money?
I can’t get my head around this.
We’ll lose Simms, he’ll run his contract down.
