Re: But this guy is only 21 and soon rather experienced …
Is the best thing for Simms’ development not to play every week from the start?
If we keep him as an occasional sub he’ll never develop and always be at that level. Let’s not judge him on one game, let’s see how he goes until halfway and how he deals with a run of bad form.
And he’s done well.
I know he’s not fit to start, but compared to a three years older guy with not much better stats, Viktor, I just don’t see why he shouldn’t have a chance.
But you’re right, who am I?
Simms has been talked about for years. It’ll haunt us if he become PL top scorer for another outfit.
don’t think he’s got what it takes in the PL (or maybe yet?)
You’ve seen what we’ve seen - his limited minutes in the first team, and some goals scored in a lower level of football. I trust them to know better.
Over the years there have been loads of forwards who have come through the ranks and had the fans baying for them to be given first team football. The vast majority end up leaving and if they’re lucky, they have a decent career in the lower leagues. The ones who’ve left and made a career as a striker at the top level are very rare indeed.
He’ll probably match this guys 17 from last year at Sunderland. Why go out and spend on a older fella, when we don’t have any money?
I can’t get my head around this.
We’ll lose Simms, he’ll run his contract down.
