I wouldnt suggest letting the banks fail as such, but profits remained high for some whilst we paid the price
We should be erecting windfarms like crazy, solar farm tech is becoming more efficient every few years too
We should be building several nuclear power stations asap
We need to move away completely from the over reliance on gas and oil
Whilst we cant change it over night, we are barely trying compared to some other nations
And Putin, the mad horrible ####ing #### that he is, is doing EXACTLY what any mad horrible #### would and SHOULD do, he's holding his enemies to ransom with resources they dont have the brains to do without
...and I'm by no means an expert, is that letting banks fail could have made things a lot worse? i.e. it becomes a systemic problem.Bank runs and the like. Not saying that wouldn't have been better in the long-run, I really have no idea, but I think there was some logic there even if it was flawed.
In this case, finding a way, somehow, to use some of those absurd war-fueled energy company profits to subsidise bills just seems so obviously the morally right thing to do that it makes my head hurt.
and its just like the banking crisis
the people pay, whilst the companies maintain profits
Record profits for energy companies, and people will die this winter through lack of heat and food
Government must be banking on a mild winter, because their voters are the most vulnerable group.
