Ignore above, fat fingers …
… is your son’s address on the card?
Asking you to meet across the city would get you out the house for a while wouldn’t it?
Thinking about football players and burglars…!
So a week or so ago I got a text from a random person saying they had found my 12 year old son’s free summer travel card that he had lost, and that I could meet to get it off him in the week. All good, as I had written my number on it to help in this eventually….which was in fairness somewhat predictable ;-) They sent a picture of it so I know it was genuine.
But for whatever reason the meet-up didn’t happen yet.
Then this morning another guy phones me to say he had found it yesterday. I asked him where and he gave me an address far across the city, not where it was found the first time. I said it was a bit of a stretch to get it today but what about tomorrow? He said ok and gave me the address where he works as a painter on a building job.
And I had to double take. It’s my home address, and he is working on the flat upstairs. I confirmed with the project manager and he is who he says he is and works there this week.
I had a text exchange with this painter guy and he doesn’t seem to be hiding anything. Sent me pic of travel card to verify etc.
But this is just weird on so many levels right?
I also texted the original guy who found it to ask if he still has it and no reply.
It looks like a coincidence and I can’t see what scam could be going on here but maybe I call the police here and run through it in case it sets off any alarm bells.
