I would say the best time is during summer, july, to experience the midnight sun, wandering
in the mountains, it is just an experience that must be seen. Out in the wildernes, barhopping in Tromsö maybe. Midsummer is when you can expect best weather, july-august. Further up north you can expect any weather during the summer, snow storm just like that...been there, done that, played a football game end of june which was postponed midgame due to snow storm..
Trains in norway and scandinavia
In 1974 as a 17 year old, me & a couple of mates bought Interrail tickets and travelled around western Europe by train for a month.
This year is the 50th anniversary of Interrail & to mark this they had a 50% sale. I've recently retired, & have treated myself to a 2 month ticket that gives me unlimited travel on European trains. I intend to travel either this autumn or next spring.
I'm thinking of heading to northern Norway & Sweden, then Finland, the Baltic states & Eastern Europe.
Does anyone have any advice on northern Scandanavia, places to see, travel (especially trains) etc. Also, same re the Baltic countries?
Thanks a million
