The People's Forum: Correct. It's 3 years since we finished 8th and it could take us just as long to break back into it.

There's no magic wand here. The key is of course recruitment so we'll see what the summer brings. I would expect playing for Lampard will have an appeal and the support over recent weeks and months has been well documented which further puts the club in a good light. Who wouldn't want to play in front of such passionate supporters.

From the fans and clubs perspective, patience is important. At the risk of sounding like stuck record, we need stability and that will come with giving Frank and his team time, which also means accepting they will make mistakes and there will be bumps along the road.

Obviously there are a lot of unknowns and FFP to contend with, but assuming we will lose a few this for cash: Richarlison, Mina and maybe Allan (pure guess work, of course), and then bring in a few new faces, I can't help but be at least a little optimistic about the potential of a first XI that then includes:

Patterson
Mykolenko
Godfrey (still lots of improvement to come from him, I think)

Iwobi (Yes, Iwobi. Who'd have thought it?)

A new commanding solid centre half and two dynamic, high energy, technically decent midfielders and there's a first XI for the future starting to develop.
