At times this season we've had too many square pegs in round holes and a squad that, for whatever reason, looked like it was playing together for the first time. Utterly baffling.
Inability to pass to a team-mate or string more than 2 or 3 passes together as a time, no coordination, no support, no running the channels or if they did run, then no-one saw them as they were all too busy running at full pelt with their heads down.
Clearly, we are not alone in the PL in needing an attacking midfielder (like James) who spots these runs.
Players like Dele or vdB ought to have been capable but didn't "turn-up" when we needed them. (Dele against C.P. a notable exception).
Also, I'd like Frank and the training team to work on improving Anthony Gordon's end product in the next few months. He can't be faulted for his effort, which is magnificent but he's always let down by the final pass or attempting a shot that was never on. There were many instances where it would have been better to have stopped and looked-up for a pass to a team mate in a better or even goal-scoring position. Maybe he just needs time.
Expectations? We've been in "transition" for what seems like an eternity. The quote was always: "We need to give the new manager a few transfer windows to sort things out". Not if he's only in the job for 6-9 months we don't.
I want stability on that front too, knowing full well that it all hangs on performances and results on the pitch. Another season like this one will just mean more names on the manager carousel, endlessly spinning in a downward spiral.
Unfortunately, Bill "special" K. will now probably feel vindicated in some odd way and take all the credit for us staying up; instead of accepting his part creation of this mess in the first place.
He's a well-meaning incompetent. By all means come and take in the view and support the team but get the F**K out of the daily running and decision making at the club.
