players are always going to get criticised and even slagged off by fans of their teams and others, this is nothing new, but these strange and uncertain times we live in and the explosion of online hate has added a new dimension to it.
Just because someone earns a lot of money, it doesn't make them immune to mental health problems. Far from it. Being constantly in the public eye with your every move scrutinised and passed judgement on by millions cannot be easy.
Then there's the downright nasty abuse, vitriol and even threats that seem par for the course for anyone in the public eye nowadays.
Hardly surprising really that mental health issues have rocketed in recent years. It can be wise to take regular breaks from and restrict social media use generally. Though I have trouble following my own advice on that at times. Previous Message
…seems like he was struggling psychologically at times this season.
Fantastic that he ended the season scoring such an important goal.
Be lovely if we kept him, he’s a beast when fit and functioning.
