Iwobi plays for Nigeria, indeed got sent off after coming on as a sub at the last AFCON. I myself posted taking the piss, asking if his ban could be extended to club football.

I’m so glad I now look like a fool and he has proven me and all the other doubters wrong. I’m not sure what the turning point for him has been. Perhaps Frank or others on the new coaching staff convinced him to play differently or believe in his ability? It was certainly already there when he scored the winner against Newcastle. I also wonder if that goal and the change in optimism (or lack of pessimism) from fans helped him too.

Whatever it was he seems a reformed player. I know we need a clear out, and I’m still not convinced he can be a top player, but at least he’s been giving his all and that’s what I’d want from any member of my squad if I were manager.
