Maybe his overall standard isn't as good but what he brings will add more to the team and remove the requirement for goalkeeper heroics.
JP is a top shot stopping keeper but his biggest flaw is also our biggest weakness which is defending high crosses into the box.
This is one of Popes main strengths and in doing this swap it actually improves the performance of the players around him despite his recent performances without Mina the defence is everywhere. We need a keeper who controls the box as we dont have defenders of the quality required to deal with this and would take 2 or 3 additions while we can improve the situation with one change and bank some cash.We may not get the wonderful reflex saves of JP but we wouldnt be shipping all these set piece goals.

If you don't think we wont be doing this sort of ,move over the next couple of years as we balance the squad you obviously haven't been following our financial woes.
We will be sacrificing our most talented players to balance the books and the squad although individually the players who replace them may not be of the same standard if done correctly with young emerging talent will eventually give us a better balanced squad. It might not be what we want but it is where we are.
This was something that both Kendall and Moyes excelled at and something Leicester have done successfully recently.
