That said, the odd time I get back and walk across the park with Goodison looming ahead I am straight back to being that love struck kid I was 40 years ago.

… and it all caught up with me. I shed a few tears watching the vid posted below after feeling a bit dumbstruck yesterday. It’s not that I wasn’t elated but it just felt distant. Watching on streams, living abroad, family etc… Everton kind of recedes.
It’s been the best part of 40 years now though. The bond, though frayed at times, will never break. My Everton story is foggy memories of the mid-80s. My gran buying my first kit, Norman whiteside breaking my heart. Then duncan Ferguson mending it. Years of meandering. Kanchelskis. Baines and Pienaar. Collina. I’m not sure what my point is really. Time for another gin and tonic maybe. Cheers to you all.
