beacause like pretty much everything these days
most people wont look at this issue on its own merit. If you are anti Rafa you wont miss an opportunity to have a go. Despite us winning the game, despite Godfrey doing well in that position, despite Digne being shit for a year and despite the fact that they know its not good for a team to let players openly question the manager. But ignore all that, Rafa is a tit so lets blame him for everything.
as far down the pitch as possible and get a cross in, so why hasn't Digne been doing the same ?
The bit in the Athletic seemed to suggest Benitez has been telling the fullbacks to stay back, which is part of what has frustrated Digne, along with Townsend being put on dead balls ahead of him.
by stopping when receiving the ball...reluctant lately to get forward due to fear of being exposed by his lack of pace.
Reports now suggest disagreements between him and RB in training - about tactics…
I know he (Digne) has been far from his best recently, but I would be disappointed if this was the end.
He’s put out a very straight batted statement on social media which doesn’t mention any of that.
Also remember a few descriptions of Rafa’s ruthless approach when he hasn’t got on with players in past clubs.
I’d love Digne to get back to the way he was - gave proper balance to the back four. Always came across as mature, considered and professional. I guess he will have his own view of what’s best tactically having played for the clubs and managers with which/whom he’s been involved.
Will be fascinating to see how things develop not just with Digne but across the club structures.
January could be very informative…
