He was a red card waiting to happen tonight...phew!
He was reckless there, but in fairness the foot on face bit of the incident occured when he'd turned his head away and wasn't looking at the player, so it's hard to categorically say whether foot on face was deliberate or not. He certainly wasn't looking to tiptoe away though, admittedly.
doubt we'd have had a second half performance like that had we been down to ten men as we really should have been. Aggression and tenacity is great, but stamping on an opponent's face - don't like to see that from an Everton player and it could have effectively cost us the game. We'd have been livid had that happened the other way round and no action was taken.
Indisciplined and unnecessary.
