Pretty much this. He wasn't the right fit in my opinion and never will be
but the only point to sacking him in the near future would be if it gets to the point that it's the only way to stop the slide towards the trapdoor.
Still, a few more repeats of last night over the next few weeks might force the issue early.
I don't see him as being the best motivator which isn't going to help in this time of adversity. Trouble is if the players aren't playing for him anymore, how would we tell? Most don't seem to respond positively to anything or anyone long term.
but i really don't see how sacking him fixes anything.
We all know that as soon as we lose a couple of first team players the whole thing falls apart. Whoever replaces Benitez will have to deal with the same shite.
I can see us sacking him just before DCL comes back and just as Doucoure and Mina are getting their match sharpness back, which the new manager will benefit from. Before it all goes to shit as soon as they're injured again.
Having no backup left back and not signing a right back is not Benitez's fault.
And to be fair to Benitez he has identified the clubs injury issues as a major problem and is trying to fix it.
It smacks of Mike Walker to me at the moment. Rightly or wrongly, what he's trying isn't working. He's only missing two players, one of whom is injured half the time anyway.
It's 1 win in 10.
If we haven't won in the next five, is that it then?
NB. I think we will stick with him and win at least four points in the next five games as well as being confident there's a lot worse teams than us in this division.
What do you say to a nervous guitar player?
