The problem is, those that did put-in good crosses
Dave T's left peg
were constantly left shaking their heads as no-one was even attempting to get on the end of them.
Same with high-balls that DCL would always go for; Iwobi and Rondon just ball-watched and let the nearest defender get it.
All-in-all, just not a rewarding watch at the moment.
Yes he was. We played so much down the left today and it constantly came to nothing because of the Gordon / Digne inability to beat a man / put a good cross in.
There were plenty of players that were average at best, I don't deny that, but Gordon, whilst he was energetic and trying hard, was very ineffective.
One of our biggest issues today was Anthony Gordon not trying for the byline enough. Especially in that second half, our play down the left was constantly held up by him turning back and then trying to thread Digne through or Digne then trying to put Gordon in etc etc. by which time Brentford were back in numbers.
He's young etc. so don't want to hang him out to dry, and he certainly wasn't alone in being ineffective out there, but today we could have done with him making more effort to beat his man.
Gray fleetingly showed what was required when he came on.
