I don't know, I think you're giving him too much credit
I know they say there's no such thing as bad publicity but bumbling and stumbling through a speech, making car noises and waffling on about Peppa Pig can hardly strengthen his standing in Toryland. I think there's serious disquiet now about the damage he's doing to their brand. Not so much the sleaze and corruption but the fact he isn't canny enough to keep it hidden away. The man hasn't got a clue what he's doing, in my opinion.

I agree with Ex Cape Town Blue btw. It was a diversionary tactic.
