Just because he was least at fault doesn’t mean he was faultless…
While the others were in full-on Keystone Cops mode he was merely in the ‘could’ve done better’ category.
One of the worst goals I’ve seen us concede in years (and I’ve seen us concede a lot
Edge of the box. All of them missed it and the ball then landed at the feet of their guy standing unmarked six yards out (played onside by the perma-startled Michael Keane, who was sauntering around like he was doing the weekly shop). Pickford’s glued to his line, making no attempt to attack or pressure the ball, so their guy just wellies it into the top corner.
####ing magic that.
Mentally this group of players is just so weak. There’s flashes of ability but - one or two aside (Coleman, Richarlison, maybe Townsend) - they’re soft to the core. As soon as we went to 2-3 we looked like we were about to collectively shit ourselves every time they entered our half.
Problem is - in any walk of life - you can coach and train technical ability, but it’s a lot harder to coach and train culture and mentality. The club needs a shake from top to bottom but these players will always have jelly where their bollocks should be; no matter who the manager is.
