Yup, for me it wasn't just about the person/manager himself, it was as much about....
...them making such a decision when it was CLEARLY a huge problem for a LOT of our fanbase - some of whom I'm sure are still angry about it and not going to games or engaging with the club until he's no longer our manager (and I suspect those people will become a lot more vocal when we inevitably have a "dip" in the good results we've started the season with - there were clear signs of it after QPR)
I'm sure that a lot of us think that is "over the top" behaviour and are being more pragmatic and as you suggest, although not comfortable with it, we're getting on with it...but lots won't be - that is the reality, and it was a really divisive decision to take at a time when we needed a united fanbase so, no matter how well we do under Benitez I'm still not sure than the end justifies the means if it has split the fanbase and left a large section of Evertonians feeling alienated and not listened to.
I'd rather die with our history than live with theirs...
