overall, might be a little generous, but I guess thats not the point
And I agree it shows such failure.
As a club, you'd hope if you invested 200mil into a squad, that in 2 years time, that squad value would be 300mil
Rather than invest 500mil, and end up with 350mil value
As a club we are in a weird spot
We need to be scouting better and buying better
Demarai Gray is a great value signing, but hardly an unknown.
The likes of Nkounkou, Branthwaite, and the kid from Sunderland are positive ideas - small out lay, hope one hits bit (ala John Stones)
We could still do with unearthing an Idrissa Gueye, etc - not by signing from Villa, but before he comes to the prem.
Its tricky though, I know sometimes people quote players as cheap unknowns, but Bissouma cost Brighton 15mil I think, and Fofana who gets mentioned sometimes cost 30mil
bargains arent easy to find sadly, but at times I think we arent brave enough to take a risk. We'd rather buy Klassen for 30 or Siggy for 40, than take 3 or 4 10mil punts.
And of course, some punts fail - Sandro
Lots for the club to do, good job the transfer window closes, to allow Brands et al, to focus on these other areas for months at a time
