My 16 year old daughter was Ďupskirtedí this week in school, and itís been horrible.
I think we all need to educate our kids when we give them phones.
.... and them accessing inappropriate stuff is a minefield..
Forgot getting the latest model. You need to set ground rules for the mobile usage. To protect him, the agreement is you will look at his phone every day at messages and content. Warn him about stuff he will see, talk about bullying, about fake news etc etc...
Iíd suggest asking relatives if they are on phone contracts and grabbing their old phones. Is a 2yr old phone really old????Reason being he will probably damage or lose the phone in the first few weeks.
Weíve gone with Lebara and are just topping him up at the mo... pay as you go, then will get a bundle with them when we work out his usage etc...
Best of luck mate, but stress itís really important that if he becomes upset about anything, that you talk about it. It will be part of ďthe dealĒ. When you talk together, itís not telling off or banning him, punishing him. Itís about discovery and coming to terms with the wider world.
Looking at getting my soon to be 11 year old son a phone for his birthday.
I genuinely canít afford 3-400 notes for a brand new, top of the range one, but I can get iPhone 7 and SE 2016 types for around a ton.
My only worry is that Iíve heard a lot of these older iPhones stop allowing you to use the apps and do updates after a while. Would it be a waste of money to get him the cheaper, older ones?
