Townsend's goal would be goal of the season but I suspect that has already been marked to Ronaldo for any semi-decent goal he scores. But I mean.. wow.
Gomes made a big impact. He was able to hold on to the ball and pass to a team mate. Suddenly everyone relaxed and passes started finding blue shirts in space.
Allan had one of his poorer performances. You'd think this sort of match would suit him but his passing was shocking and he couldn't really hold position.
And could we _please_ forget this three-at-the-back silliness? I don't think we have ever played well with it. I get why Benitez went with it (to counter Burnley's aerial strength) but players are just all over the place. They don't seem to know who is supposed to mark who and they hesitate at critical moments, like early on when Keane was slow to react to a cross and Woods almost scored.
Richarlison had another underwhelming performance as #9. Rondon on the other hand looked very slow so Benitez has a conundrum. Townsend was pretty quiet until his goal (apart from creating a chance) while Gray is always a threat with his pace and directness. Gray has booked his place in the starting eleven. What a signing he's proving to be.
And we have now come twice from behind to win. I think we might have gone entire seasons without doing this once so this is a great sign. Having said that, first half was shockingly bad. Well, first hour more or less. Yet we deserved to win.
